Therapeutic Approaches

My primary orientation is cognitive-behavioral. Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) emphasizes a here-and-now perspective wherein understanding one's history although important is not as important as working in the present on obstacles a patient faces. Additionally, CBT involves generating more realistic and effective ways of seeing oneself, others, and the world through changes in thinking and behavior. CBT not only seeks to develop more flexible ways of viewing a problem, but also cultivates adaptive responsivity to the factors maintaining a condition.

Below is a list of therapies that I am competent delivering. Any of the these therapies may be provided as stand-alone treatments or in combination as a CBT enhanced treatment approach, allowing treatment to be designed to patient specific needs. I do not subscribe to a one size fits all approach and cater treatment to each patient without compromising the integrity of therapeutic approaches selected for treatment. Each treatment plan is thoughtfully designed and thoroughly discussed with each individual.
